Centennial’s JV Cheerleading team recently competed at Gladstone High School, January 15th where they placed first! Former JV member, Mianel Araujo spoke about the recent competition, “Once I got to Gladstone High, I felt super nervous because this would be my first competition this year. Although I don’t have much experience, I made sure that I wouldn’t be bothered by my own negative thoughts, and that I’d be sure to try my absolute best. During warmups, I began to feel more confident again. Once we finally began competing, I felt very nervous, but I knew that my team and I would pull through. Immediately after I found out that we had gotten first place, I was incredibly shocked and speechless. I didn’t know how to react at first, but then it hit me. I felt very proud of both my teammates and myself, and I was overall very happy.”

JV member, Kenna Antich also expressed her feelings during the recent cheer competition; “Although we had accidentally messed up during our performance, we still managed to place first! It was a super amazing and surreal experience. I had never felt more proud of myself, and my teammates more.” At the same event, Varsity cheer placed 2nd in their division.

Even though it is the middle of cheer season, you should definitely think about joining cheer sometime next year! Tryouts are typically held towards the end of the school year. You can find information on joining from either the athletic office, the school homepage, or emailing one of the cheer coaches, [email protected].
