The COVID Student Experience – Update October 2021

Student: Anna Patsarenyuk
Grade: 9

Q1: How has COVID impacted your grades?
A1: They got better because I learned how to be more independent and how to focus more in class thanks to online school.

Q2: What were your grades looking like before COVID?
A2: They were bad. I had all F’s because I couldn’t focus in class.

Q3: What are your grades now?
A3: They are good, because it’s less distracting, and I can focus more due to online classes.

Q4: How has COVID affected your school experience overall?
A4: It’s probably made me a better student and less annoying. [I] don’t like the mask because I can’t see my friends’ faces.

Q5: Do you prefer online school or in person school?
A5: It’s kind of half and half. [With] online, you get to concentrate more on school without distractions, and in person you get to socialize more and it’s easier to get help, but [there are] more distractions.

Q1: How has COVID impacted your grades?
A1: It got harder to keep up because I did online school and they just overloaded me with assignments but I still managed to keep good grades.

Q2: What were your grades looking like before COVID?
A2: I was an A and B student because it was easier to interact with students and teachers and I could get help quicker.

Q3: What are your grades now?
A3: My grades now are A’s and B’s. School right now is the same for me as it was before the pandemic started, the only difference is the masks.

Q4: How has COVID affected your school experience overall?
A4: It’s keeping people more separated than usual and you have to watch how close you have to be. I also feel neutral about the mask – I’ve gotten used to them.

Q5: Do you prefer online school or in person?
A5: I prefer in person because it’s easier to get in contact with teachers and I don’t get as much homework as I got in online school.

A2: My grades were the same, honestly COVID didn’t really affect my grades at all.

Q3: What are your grades now?
A3: My grades are good. The only class I’m struggling with is pre-calc because the teacher said during online classes a lot of the lessons were left out.

Q4: How has COVID affected your school experience overall?
A4: It didn’t really affect me everything still feels the same.

Q5: Do you prefer online school or in person?
