The boys soccer team hosts West Linn tomorrow night at 6 pm in the first round of the state playoffs.

On October 22, the Eagles bounced back from a 3-game losing streak, defeating the David Douglas Scots 3-0. The following game, they beat Barlow 5-0 on their own turf.

Bottom line is that we have talked a lot about our identity and playing to that strength,” said Head Coach Eagle Todd Saks.

“If we can do that, we will be successful.  We did exactly that in both games last week.  The boys stuck to our beliefs about the team and got the job done,” said Saks.

The Eagles celebrated senior night in great fashion, dominating Gresham 7-0 in their final game of the regular season.

“I think senior night played a big role in our game.  A couple of our boys play for the two Gresham coaches and I think they wanted to make a good showing,” said Saks about the blowout victory.

“After the game there was a sense of relief that we have come out the other side of the tunnel.  That is a big key heading into Saturday’s (playoff) game against West Linn,” adds Saks.

The Eagles have a bit of momentum heading into the playoffs having blown out their last 3 opponents.

The Eagles finished their season ranked #13 on OSAA which puts them up against West Linn, ranked #20 on the playoff bracket. If the Eagles went on to win tomorrow night, they advance into the second round of the playoffs; if they lose, their season is over.

“They will be a good team that will have solid players.  Taking one game at a time, but my hope is to get the first win on Saturday and move forward from there.  If we play to our identity, I believe we can beat any team in the state,” said Saks.
