The end of the 2019 baseball season definitely a rollercoaster of a ride. After losing nine amazing senior athletes last year, CHS was never expected to make it far in the new season. The Eagles were expected to end the season with no more than seven wins. Despite this, Centennial battled their hearts out. Never giving in, we managed to end the preseason with already six wins to their name, one away from the expected amount, and only three losses.

Rolling into the start of league games, the CHS baseball team continued to fight and take as many wins as they could from their opponents. By the end of the league season Centennial far surpassed expectations with a 9-8 record to finish, and a 15-11 overall record. This year, the 2019 Centennial baseball team became the first team in 15 years to finish with a winning record.

Despite the streak-ending record, Centennial finished 4th in the conference – under Clackamas, Barlow, and Central Catholic – ranked 33rd in the state rankings, merely a spot away from being included in the 32 teams that enter state playoffs. For the next week or so after their last game, the team waited in anticipation to see where they would be placed once the rankings froze. Constantly throughout the week, as teams won and lost, CHS bounced in and out of the 31st and 32nd rankings. Sadly, however, once the rankings froze, Centennial found itself placed at (insert ranking here). Despite making history after 15 years, Centennial High School was out of the State Playoffs.

The 2019 baseball season will be memorable for many players and parents. Whether it be the 19-0 game against Benson, or Kyle Fitzgerald pitching a shutout against Sandy High School, or Centennial beating Central Catholic due to a forfeit, or to three CHS players getting ejected in their game against David Douglas; the 2019 Centennial High School Spring Baseball Season will go down in history.
