Trade Show Tomorrow

The Job Expo and Trades Fair will take place tomorrow during ninth and tenth period in the parking area in front of the gym.

This job fair’s main goal is to introduce students to trade jobs and encourage those who may be interested in a path other than college.

“Kids are automatically excused if they signed up,” said School to Work Coordinator Jeff Stanek.

162 kids are signed up so far; the event is only open to juniors and seniors.

“It’s somewhat contrary to a lot of the messaging that we send to students that college is the only way that they’re going to be successful. There is another way to have a happy life and have no student debt,” said Stanek.

“All we’re trying to do is open avenues for kids,” he said.

The jobs will include carpenters, roofers, electricians, framers, plumbers and a lineman company.

“We also have FedEx coming,” said Stanek. “They are hiring now and have a decent wage and benefit package.”

Stanek, Adam Olson, and Luke Gayner will be in charge of the fair. For more information, contact one of them or visit room 101.
