Eagle Fest Week Takes Over CHS May 20-24
Eagle Fest Week–celebration full of activities–will take place May 20-24.
“It’s supposed to be a fun, festive week to have some school spirit,” said Activities Director Jimmy Mei.
The main events are as follows:
On Tuesday, May 21, there will be an assembly recognizing spring sports athletes. In addition, Mr. Centennial, a pageant for male seniors, will be held in the auditorium at 7 pm. Applications are currently available and are due by May 13 in room 176.
On Wednesday night, He-Man Volleyball will take place at 5 pm in the gym; junior and senior males will compete against each other and against the varsity girls volleyball team and staff members. For more information, see Mei.
On Thursday, there will be a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament that will raise money for the CHS Wrestling Team. Any student can participate, but there can only be one varsity basketball player per team. There will be four players on each team, and it will cost $10 for each team or $5 for an individual to participate in the three point contest. Sign up forms are currently available, and are due to English teacher and wrestling coach Ehren Schneider by May 17.
On Friday, Walk A Mile In Her Shoes will happen after school. This event is to involve male students to go around the school in heels; the goal is to raise awareness about sexual assault and human trafficking, and the event is promoted by HTAC (Human Trafficking Awareness Club). Lunch promotions and sign ups will mainly take place at the beginning of Eagle Fest Week, although they may begin earlier.
“The goal is to get as many guys as we can,” said HTAC adviser Kristy Ree.
EagleFest Week is meant to be a special time for the school to express pride and spirit, and it will be the last main event at school for seniors.
“(This week) is like a homegoing for seniors,” said Mei.
