Ali Makes The Most Of Her Time At CHS
Senior Sarah Ali is a first generation American and has been in the CSD since 5th grade.
She launched the Donating to Refugees campaign, which helped raise over 10,000 of clothing for refugees. Additionally, she is politically active and a women’s rights activist. She wrote nine How-to-Guides for students to get politically active through the Oregon Student Voice.
The guides are currently being used by educators and decision makers around the state.
Lastly, as president for the Gresham Youth Advisory Council, she is launching citywide sexual harassment and mental health awareness campaign with her team; the campaign is called StepUp SpeakUp.
Just this week Sarah found out that she is one of the recipients of the Coca-Cola Foundation Scholarship and is one of the 2019 Coca-Cola scholars.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors.
Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. As part of the scholarship, she will be heading to Atlanta, GA for a leadership institute.
In addition, she is a nominee for Gresham’s Greatest Young Citizen, which will be presented tonight.
