There’s a brand new club at CHS!

This club focuses on slam poetry, which is performance based poetry.

“The goal is to spread awareness in slam poetry and art form,” said english teacher Julia Kirkpatrick.

Verselandia East is the annual poetry slam, which is a competition where high school students compete for prizes for their poetry.

Alex Dang, program specialist at Verselandia, will teach students techniques on how to read poetry and other competition skills.

The club will meet Wednesdays after school from 3-4 pm in the lecture room at the end of this month, hopefully starting January 30, although details are still being finalized.

“Everybody’s welcome,” said Kirkpatrick.
