Unity Week To Take Place Week of President’s Day
So what is Unity week at Centennial all about?
Diversity.
According to Jimmy Mei, Centennial’s activities director, there are four main components of Unity week: Socioeconomic status, ethnicity and race, cultural identity, and sexual identity.
Unity week takes place the week of President’s day, February 20-23.
Here is a list of each day’s activities:
Tuesday, 20: Socio Economic Status – Lunch activities
Wednesday, 21: Sexual Identity – Lunch games
Thursday, 22: Ethnicity and Race – Assembly and lunch activities (Black History month)
Friday, 23: Cultural Identity – Class activities
“It’s a good way to spread a (good) message to the whole school,” said Mei.
The main purpose of Unity week is to express and emphasize diversity at Centennial while also attempting to get students involved.
“(We’re) focusing on the idea that everyone is different,” said Mei.
The lunchtime daily activities are still to be determined by Mei and student council.
Mei remarked, “We’ll see what happens.”
