Cross Country Loses to OC Last Night
Although they didn’t do as well as expected, there was lots of improvement evident in the Cross Country Meet at Oregon City last night.
The Eagle cross country squad met up Wednesday at Oregon City. All the girl runners were healthy and productive as ever, each setting a new personal record time. Junior Emily Spain finished top out of the girls accompanied by senior Vanessa Garcia who did “very well,” mentioned head coach Greg Letts.
Moving on to the boys, senior Adrian Garcia who was dealing with the flu and sophomore Jason DeLeon battling with a leg problem, both ran solid times. Adrian Garcia admits, “We could’ve done better.’ Reflecting on the runners Letts stated, “I thought we had a good meet…we turned the corner.”
Letts plans on the boys running in the top three at districts saying, “If we get it together, we can make some noise.” Four out of six girls have not ran cross country, so the goal will be to improve and build more confidence for the future.
The next meet will be today at Camp Magruder near the beach as the Eagles cross country team will be running on the sand for the first time this year.
