After 27 years of teaching, Judy Hartwig is retiring. Her presence in the Career Technology Department has influenced many students, and her classes have been the source of inclusive hands-on learning.

Hartwig’s career started with six years of teaching at Canby High School, followed by a little time off to raise her children, then 21 years in the Centennial District. She spent three years at the middle school and 18 years at the high school.

Hartwig says, “It’s been great to see students excited about learning.  Over the years I’ve kept in touch with students and they had great memories of things they learned in my classes whether it helped them with their careers and/or their personal lives.”

He favorite part of the school year is at the start of each semester with a new group of students. “I try to let them know they can all be successful in my classes and hope they will learn some great life skills.” She says that she will miss seeing and connecting with students and staff everyday.

Hartwig’s family includes her husband, Ron, three children, and three grandchildren and another arriving in October.  Her plans after her retirement include going to Hawaii this summer, babysitting her grandchildren, helping her daughter with her business, projects around the house (like sewing), and travel.
