SLIP Test Takes Off Next Wednesday
The SLIP language exam is on April 19, from 3-5 p.m. The test occurs twice a year and is open to 8th graders through seniors. Middle school students will test at the middle school,
The languages that are being offered are: Arabic, Cantonese, Chuukese, Karen, Persian, Romanian, Sign, Spanish, Somali, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese. The cost is $25, and payment can be made to the bookkeeper or Trish Doerning in the counseling office.
On test day, students will have to bring their ID card and arrive by 2:50 p.m. and the test begins at 3:00 p.m sharp.
If a student wants to take a test for a language not listed, 10 students will have to join to take a specific test. For instance, if 10 students want to take the Bosnian Slip test, the school would offer it.
Students who want a test that is not offered should see Doerning or counselor Sally Menolascina.
The SLIP Test has helped many students earn foreign language credits. “It allows students to earn more credits to satisfy their graduation requirements. Students can earn up to four credits,” said Doerning.
