Clinton Wins Centennial Mock Election

“I voted for Jill Stein. I just think there is so much controversy around Trump or Clinton and I feel that [Stein] is for the people,” said freshman Ben Lunceforde.
In a mock election held in the cafeteria during all three lunches Nov. 8, 36% of Centennial voters picked Hillary Clinton as their choice for president. Voter turnout was low as only 365 voted out of the 1810 students who attend Centennial. The 20% voter turnout was lower than expected. More detailed results are listed below, as well as a few opinions from voters.

“Bernie Sanders because Hillary is a liar and Trump is a racist. So why not Bernie?” said sophomore Christina Dominovic.
“Trump. Because I don’t feel like having Hillary as our president is safe since she is a liar,” said sophomore Michael Vu.
“Hillary. I feel like Trump doesn’t respect women and he’s way too blunt,” said senior Alyssa Guthrie.
“Bernie Sanders because I don’t think the other two candidates should be candidates. They both have bad signs to them,” said sophomore Alina David.
“[Ehren] Schneider. Because I feel like he has a great understanding on what’s going on in the world, and he can help shape it to be a better place,” said senior Junel Jeannis-Ostin.
“Bernie Sanders because I hate Trump and the things he says. Like how he says he’s going to send immigrants away, but them basically everyone would have to leave since we are not the founders,” said freshman Tupou Fononga.
“I voted for Oprah Winfrey because it’s Oprah. I don’t like the other candidates and she’s an inspirational person who will make the country a better place,” said freshman Emilee Pease.
“I voted for Gary Johnson because I don’t want Donald or Hillary to win and I had to pick someone,” said freshman Bailey Becker.
“Hillary. I’d rather have her over a president that would deport people,” said freshman Melody Moua.
“Trump. He is a business man and he can get us out of debt,” said freshman Carissa Owens.
“Bernie Sanders because he has really good ideas. Trump or Clinton don’t know what they’re talking about,” said freshman Ellie Basinski.
“I voted for Hillary because I don’t like Trump,” said senior Ethan Ferte.
