After concern that it wouldn’t happen at all, Centennial boys water polo has splashed their way to an actual varsity team earlier this month and although it is not too late for more players to join, things are moving ahead.

“Oh, yes we would love for more players to come out, especially girls!” said Head Coach Lita Nelson.

Nelson in her first year coaching at Centennial has successfully brought together a group of boys, and a few girls to compete against the district’s other water polo teams. They now have two teams, a varsity boy’s team and a co-ed JV team.

“Water polo has been pretty good so far, y’all should join water polo next year it’s going to be a blast,” said senior water polo player Dylan Brooks.

Nelson started playing water polo when she was a freshman in high school.  Her former coach told her that Centennial needed a coach and recommended Nelson to Athletic Director, Brent Child .

“Coaching high schoolers is by far the best! Centennial kids are very respectful,” said Nelson.
