Maes, Schuhl Drive to the End
The golf season recently concluded on May 6 and ended on a positive note for the program under Coach Tom Young.
Young was pleased with the development of the program this season. One key goal he stated was to field a full varsity team next season. The only members of the Varsity team this season were sophomore Travis Maes and freshman Jacob Schuhl.
Young noted that he had “a great time coaching the kids”. Additionally, he said that he believes that the players all “grew together and became closer with each other.”
For next season, Young has high hopes for the golf team. He stated that he plans for his players to have practice throughout the summer to improve their game. This will allow the golfers to become ready to compete better at the varsity level.
Maes was a standout golfer this year and has high goals to improve on for next season. He noted that although he has improved a lot from last season, “I won’t make the same mistake of not practicing in the summer again.” He believes he’d be much better if he would have kept practicing.
Young encourages anyone interested about joining golf next season to contact him for potential questions or for more information.
