Baseball On Hot Streak
Baseball season is starting off great with a record of 9-4. Coach Kevin Christie and the Eagles baseball team are having one of their best starts in years, going 6-2 in preseason and 3-2 in league play. Players Dawson Day and Brendan Ritschard are having great starts to the season and look to have a good rest of the season.
The Eagles started out league hot. They played rival Barlow Bruins where they not only beat them but swept them! This was a great accomplishment for the team and a big confidence booster. Shortstop Brendan Ritschard said, ”Overall the season is going pretty well. We’ve had some letdowns as a team, but we still haven’t played to our full potential as a team. If we keep working hard I know we can be really good.”
Eagles are a top 15 team in the state right now, and are beginning to get noticed all around the league and the state. Pitcher and outfielder Dawson Day said, “We are a talented young team with a lot of juniors and sophomores, and we are growing as a team each and every week!”
Centennial hasn’t had such a talented team in years, and the Eagles are excited to see what’s ahead. The boys came off a tough week losing to the David Douglas Scots, but bounced back and defeated the Clackamas Cavaliers 2-0.
The team is currently ranked 14th in the state and third in the Mt. Hood Conference, trailing behind the Oregon City Pioneers and Reynolds Raiders. The Eagles’ next home game is this today the 15th at 5pm against the tough Clackamas Cavaliers, where they look to get the win and the sweep!
