As the 2015-16 swimming season comes to an end, the swimmers showed exceptional performance. After winning the two previous dual meets against Madras and Reynolds, Coach Rod Lundgren said, “We finished the dual meet season strong!”

On Feb. 4, at the meet against Madras, Mykel Caruso, Junior varsity swimmer, placed 1st in the 100 yard breaststroke. “Swimming isn’t about the times you get in your races or if you and your friends win; it’s about having a good time and making those friends on your team your family. We may swim alone, but we can’t win unless we all work hard together,” said Caruso.

During this meet, there were three swimmers who won their first varsity events; Avelina Borovskiy in the 100 yard freestyle, Olivia Harms in the 200 yard freestyle,  and Vanessa Garcia in the 100 yard breaststroke.

On February 5, the meet against Reynolds was a success with the Eagles winning 185-130.  Sam Dorning, who placed 2nd in the 100 yard freestyle, said “It’s not about the time you get in your race, it’s about the time you spend with your friends.”

The Mt. Hood District Conference Championship this weekend left the CHS girls team in 7th place, while the boys team placed 6th.

The following students will be advancing to the State Championships: Savannah Helwig, Amanda Ly, Amber Suh, Austin Suh, Christian Tucker, Nathaniel Sherret, Mykel Caruso and Jamie Stone.

Tim Ly, set a new school record in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 52.46 seconds and Stone finished as the female Mt. Hood Conference Swimmer of the Year.
