Coach Matthews Pleased With Wrestling Season So Far

Eli Porterfield, Staff Writer

So far Coach Roger Matthews has been pleased with the effort put forth by his wrestlers.  “I was very happy with the effort of the team (after the first match), and it was shown in our results,” he said.
However, Matthews was also quick to note that there was definitely room for improvement. “We still have holes that we need to plug, but that will eventually come in time,” he said.
Matthews has also been happy with the veteran wrestlers’ performances.  Additionally, he pointed out how satisfied he was with the growth of the younger, less-experienced wrestlers.  “I was very happy with how the younger wrestlers performed, some even won all three of their matches.  It’s very good that we have some freshmen already competing at the varsity level.”
Matthews said he isn’t content to settle and spots the need for improvement.
