Wrestlers Start Off Strong

The Wrestling Team had its first meet on Dec. 4 at the David Douglas Invitational.
Overall, Coach Roger Matthews was pleased with the effort put forth by his wrestlers.  “I was very happy with the effort of the team, and it was shown in our results.”  However, Matthews was also quick to note that there was definitely room for improvement, “We still have holes that we need to plug, but that will eventually come in time,” he said.
Matthews was also happy with the veteran wrestlers’ performance.  Additionally, he pointed out how satisfied he was with the growth of the younger, less experienced wrestlers.  “I was very happy with how the younger wrestlers performed, some even won all three of their matches.  It’s very good that we have some freshmen already competing at the varsity level.”
Matthews was pleased with the performance, but he isn’t content to settle and spots the need for improvement.  Through all of this he makes sure to maintain a positive outlook on the Wrestling program.
