The volleyball team has hung together through a string of tough losses.

The Varsity Girls’ volleyball season concluded October 22 with a loss to Gresham, putting an end to their 0-17 season.

Coach Rob Olson said, “We improved as the season progressed as evidenced by our strong outings against David Douglas and Oregon City.”  The team did indeed play well against  David Douglas but lost all three sets 26-24, 25-20, and 25-23.  Olson noted the improvement of passing during the season which led to them being more of a threat to the opposing team.

Olson intends to stick around for some time to coach and sees future potential to get the team back on track .  He mentioned, “I have been working with a group of 8th grades who may be able to nudge our program in the right direction, and I am looking forward to working with them.”

Olson also states, “If we are going to be able to compete in the conference we are going to need to be more efficient with fewer mistakes and that can only come with experience.”  Olson said that many returning players will be involved with clubs to improve their skills and gain valuable experience.  He has a very positive outlook on the program, “We have a good group of kids and my hope is that our hitters can develop and really put pressure on our opponents.”
