As we are now in 2020 we now get to look back at the past decade and remember all that has happened as a country as people as a community we get to realize how much we have grown.
Here is a recap of some of the events of the past decade. This list was compiled by searching through yearbooks and newspapers, and by asking current CHS teachers. Any omissions are unintentional.

- In 2017, Fidget spinner
- Pokémon Go went viral in July 2016.
- Leonardo DiCaprio won an Oscar in February 2016, for The Revenant.
- 2016, Harambe the gorilla became famous online dying tragically when a boy fell in his enclosure, forcing zoo personnel to euthanize the gorilla.
- In July and August 2014 the ice bucket challenge went crazy due to the ALS awareness/research. It was one of the biggest Internet trends of that year.
- 2012, Harlem shake and Gangnam style dances.
- April 2010 the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton
Historical things that happened in the last decade
- January 2019, a diverse group of lawmakers were sworn into congress.
- October 2017, the famous #metoo movement hit.
- January 2017, lots of people attended the women’s march worldwide supporting women’s equality.
- August 2017, the solar eclipse.
- June 2015, same sex marriage became legal in the United States.
- 2015, Black Lives Matter was a huge topic. It started when three girls started using #blacklivesmatter when a teen was shot by a guy named George Zimmmerman.
- March 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 went missing and 239 passengers have never been found.
- May 2, 2011, enemy leader Osama Bin Laden was killed.
