Following the debut of his most recent album, “Chromakopia”; Tyler the Creator’s songs have hit big. Released on October 28th, Tyler the Creator’s 8th album “Chromakopia” managed to hit over 80 millions streams within its release day. After a week of being released, “Chromakopia” made it to the No. 1 spot on the week of November 4th’s Billboard 200. The album features many great songs along with some features: Sexxy Red, Daniel Caesar, Teezo Touchdown, GloRilla, Lil Wayne, and many more can be found on this album.
This is not the first time Tyler the Creator’s albums have made it to the top spot, “Flower boy”, “Igor” and “Wolf” have all been big time albums of his. Each of these albums have at least hit over 80 million streams. What’s special and different about “Chromakopia”, is the story telling Tyler incorporates into each song. “Chromakopia” is based off of Tyler’s life growing up in L.A; “Like him” informs the listener about the absence of his father and how it affected Tyler throughout his childhood, “Take your mask off” is about his fears of being the person he truly is and masking his sexual orientation, and “Darling, I” is about Tyler’s struggles of staying loyal in a relationship. Some of these songs reach out to the listeners in deeper and more emotional ways compared to his past albums.
Feedback from social media has been nothing but positive from his fanbase. With multiple reaction videos being published to YouTube, it continues to draw in a larger audience. As of November 21st, 2024, multiple articles have been published congratulating Tyler on his third week of being on the top billboard 200. “Tyler the Creator’s CHROMAKOPIA spends a third consecutive and total week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart” – Billboard 200. Chromakopia has also started trending on Tik Tok with over 180,000 posts under the hashtag “Chromakopia”. Majority of these shorts have been positive feedback from fans who have found comfort within the album and relating to its content.
With the album’s newfound succession, Tyler the Creator has taken it to social media to thank his fans on instagram over the course of the last few weeks. He has released one of his most vulnerable albums yet and his fans came through in full support of him. Tyler the Creator has been capable of drawing in millions of streams within the first few days of a new album, he’s an inspiration to others and a true artist in the rap industry.
