La La Land is the theme of Centennial’s 2025 Winter Formal. La La Land (2016) is a movie in which an aspiring young actress, Mia, and an enthusiastic jazz pianist, Sebastian, slowly fall in love and battle through many trials before the love of their jobs eventually takes them to different, successful places in their lives. The movie then follows a what if scenario in which they stay together throughout their lives and have a happy ever ending. The movie pushes a wardrobe of suits and bright yellow dresses and is filled with singing and dancing all kicking off in the winter time. Perfect for a Winter Ball.
Centennial decided to do a Spring Formal last year, however, they plan on returning to the usual Winter dance this year. The Dance will be called the Winter Ball and be hosted on Saturday, January 11th from 7-10pm. The dance will be on a Saturday so that everyone has plenty of time to get ready and get there on time.
Tickets will begin being sold on December 9th and students will have until January 8th to purchase them. Tickets cost $20 with ASB and $30 without. Tickets are also available at the door, $30 with ASB and $40 without. If you purchase a ticket in advance, wristbands will be passed out during both lunches on January 9th and 10th.
The dance will be hosted at the Sheraton hotel near the airport, (8235 NE Airport Way, Portland, OR 97220). Students are welcome to park at the hotel and parking costs are $20 per vehicle. The parking is free however if you stay the night at the hotel and rooms range from 185-219 dollars per night.
Guests are welcome to come to this event. In order for a guest to come you must pick up and fill out the guest form located in the front office. Guest forms must be completely filled out and turned in by December 13th in order to be approved.
The dance is a formal event, meaning you are required to be dressed in formal attire. The use of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited during or before the dance. Any implication of this rule being broken is grounds for a student to not be permitted into the dance. The dance has the goal of being fun and lighthearted for all who attend. In the meantime please be responsible and proactive with school and tickets so everyone can have fun at the dance.
