The first trimester is ending this month. Halloween passed by so now Thanksgiving and the Christmas season are about to start. What is happening in November at Centennial?
Football coach Cody Butler was recognized for 20 years of service to Centennial, while we are also welcoming two new people in the staff. Jill Leishman, a veteran teacher for over 11 years with a Bachelor of Science in History teaching, will be the new culinary teacher and Matthew Riley, who is new to teaching but with his Bachelor of business administration and finance and previous works with teenagers he has the best conditions for being the new Accounting and Personal Finance teacher at CHS.
The Fall sports season is ending and currently some sports like volleyball and soccer are attending play-offs. The boys soccer team lost their OSAA game on November 9 against Summit as well as the volleyball team on November 2nd. The OSAA Cross Country State Championship occurred on November 9. Winter sports are starting on 18th of November, so get ready for tryouts, which are starting the same day! Basketball, Hockey, Swimming etc. are returning.
On the 21st November, CHS celebrates the cozy season of change and hot chocolate (despite the Oregonian rainy weather) with the Fall Fest. It offers fun activities and dinner with free entry and $1 tickets for some activities.
Right now is CHS unity week which is like a spirit week with different themes everyday to show the unity of our Eagles community despite our diverse heritages. The occasion is the national heritage month that takes place in November. The unity week is from Nov. 11th through the 15th with the themes: Orange Out (Tuesday, 12th), PJ day (Wednesday, 13th), Show off your culture (Thursday, 14th) and Eagle Out! (Friday, 15th).
Thanksgiving takes place on Nov 28 making a short school week with only two school days on Monday and Tuesday. After the 5-day holiday weekend, the first trimester is already over and the second trimester starts on 2nd December.
You can’t miss the choir performance on December 5.
The winter formal dance is currently organized by our school. It takes place in January after winter break with the theme “La La Land”. Ticket sales for the dance start on December 9.
