Centennial High School Cross Country season is ending on a high note, with significant improvements over the course of this season.
At the most recent meet, the NWOC League event at Centennial on October 16, many athletes set Personal Records (PR’s). In cross country a PR is the personal best time to complete the course. However not all courses are the same which can make it easier or harder to achieve a PR, depending on hills, terrain, and other factors. Athletes took advantage of their only home meet of the season, running a familiar course in front of a friendly crowd, proud to represent our school.
Intensive training that started in the summer, and opportunities to practice and bond over the course of the season, paid off. Half of the women’s varsity runners set PRs, and seven out of nine varsity men achieved PRs. The following athletes set PRs at the NWOC League meet here at CHS: Grace Chienku, Lireal Fifield, Alanna Allen, Hannah Dang, Esnahider Marcial, Kody Chen, Sawyer Walton, Dylan Nguyen, Easton Hopkins, Daniel Luquin, and Gadi Cyubahiro.
Cross Country helps students build their self esteem and motivate them to push themselves to their fullest potential. The last meet of the season is on October 30th at Blue Lake Regional Park. Go Centennial.
