The Centennial High School football team is making a comeback from their past seasons. In the 2024-2025 season, the Eagles started strong with three wins and four losses compared to last year’s record of one win and eight losses.
Centennial began this season strongly, beating St. Helens 20-14. Then, the Eagles played away at Parkrose for a 59-26 win. Breaking school records in that game, the Eagles had over 500 yards rushing across the whole team.
In the 3rd game of the season, the Eagles lost to Forest Grove, 20-35. Then for the fourth game of the season, the Eagles had a devastating loss to Hood River Valley 46-6.
The Hillsboro Spartans beat the Eagles 35-0 in Centennial’s Homecoming Game. Hillsboros’ defense kept sneaking through Centennial’s Offensive line forcing Aiden Tyemea, quarterback, and Justin Shellito QB to either QB run or force a throw. Hillsboro was leading the Eagles by half, but with 6 seconds on the clock, Aiden Tyema threw a pass to Junior RB Jared Schnieder, but it was a yard short. The Spartans lead the Eagles heading into the second half of the football game.
The Eagles then played La Salle who was 3-1 on October 11th. Centennial is now at two and four after losing to the La Salle Falcons 45-6. Then playing Putnum on Friday, October 18th, 2024, Putnum is currently 0-5.
Centennial played great teams this season and has shown and improved from last season. Putting up points against teams they might not have last season, the junior varsity team is looking strong. And could help improve the varsity team next season. On Friday 10/19 the Eagles played Putnam who currently has 0 wins and 5 losses. The Eagles beat Putnam 30-13 making it the Eagle’s first conference win of the season.
For the rest of the season Centennial is playing Glencoe Crimson Tide, ranked first in OSAA 5a on October 24th, 2024. Then the week after that playing the Aloha Warriors who are currently 6th in OSAA 5a football in their first year of 5a football, coming from the 6a metro league. Good luck Eagles!!
Finishing Strong
