The Centennial High School cheer team is buzzing with excitement as they prepare for the upcoming All-State competition. This event is significant for the team as it is the first competition of the season and they are not missing any beats in their preparation. The All-State competition is a much anticipated event that brings together the best teams across Oregon. The CHS cheer team is determined to make a lasting impression.
The team’s preparation involves rigorous training sessions that focus on perfecting their routines. Each member is putting in their best effort to ensure their stunts, jumps, dance, and cheer are flawless. The coaches Hali Fisher, Angie Darby, and Cassidy Morillo are working closely with the team, providing guidance and support to help the team reach their full potential. All three coaches have been actively involved with Centennial for years, Hali and Cassidy are both former CHS cheerleaders and alumni, Angie has had her three children graduate from CHS, all of which were actively involved in sports, including cheer. Their knowledge surpasses most as they emphasize the importance of staying clean and the precision of the routine. Their dedication to our team goes beyond just coaching, they care for us all on a personal level. Everyday they check in, they help us grow first as students, as athletes, and as people.
In addition to hard work physically, the squad is prepping for the mental aspect of competition, which can be just as daunting. Confidence and a positive mindset are extremely important for a successful performance. The coaches continuously offer motivation to help keep the team in the right headspace. Supporting each other, creating a positive and encouraging environment is the direct meaning of what it is to be a cheerleader. The inspiring nature of the coaches is a direct reflection of the team’s bond. The team connection offers a sense of belonging and our friendships grow on and off the mat. We are not just teammates, classmates, and peers, we are a family.
The Centennial cheer team is paying close attention to their choreography. The goal is to stand out and be the best. The team is practicing non stop to ensure their routine is executed without fail. Preparation includes stunt routines themes, needing to get outfits and props picked out. Making certain they look good for their big day. They understand that presentation is a key component of their performance and they are making sure every detail is perfect, from bow to toe. Everything is carefully coordinated to create a cohesive finish. Most importantly they are bonding and having fun.
The community is rallying behind the Centennial Cheer team. Showing their support and encouragement. Parents, friends, and school staff are all cheering them on, providing the team with the motivation they need to succeed. The cheerleaders are very grateful as always for the support and are determined to make everyone proud.
