Boys Varsity Soccer Team in the Quarterfinals!
CHS has something to cheer for once again as our Boys Varsity Soccer team has kicked their way to the playoffs! With a record of 9-4-1, our team has really stepped it up from 0 to 100%, to show the rest of the schools what Centennial soccer is all about!
Our last game was a win against Bend, 2-0 with a goal scored by Mario Jauregui and Raul Garcia Ponce!
We had the pleasure of speaking with Raul and hearing what he had to say about all of this! Our team’s first match in the quarterfinals will be against the 12-1-3 La Salle. Garcia Ponce explained how he thinks this will be one of their toughest matchups. “It will be a hard game against La Salle. We tied 0-0 last time and we are playing them at home.” La Salle will not be their only challenge though, if our Eagles beat La Salle they will have a date with either McKay or Springfield. Raul has a very humble view when it comes to these upcoming games. “We have to take it one step at a time.”
This type of attitude pairs well with the team’s main strength. “Hard work, We believe in each other. Team chemistry is a big thing,” Raul continued. Though we may not be the richest school, we more than make up for that in heart and determination.” Although it’s safe to say that we are one of the underdogs, everyone loves a Rocky story. And something in the air tells us all at the Talon, that our Varsity team will not only go all the way, but do it in a style that says “I am an Eagle!”
Our game against La salle will be on the 5th of November 6:00 pm at their home. Come support your team! It is recommended that you dress warm but wear your Eagle colors and gear! The bus will leave at 5:00pm and will return around 8:15pm. For more information, click this link to OSAA to see the full tournament bracket, and info on all of your favorite sports!
