Here’s the Kick; Varsity Girls Soccer Wins 8-0 vs. Reynolds!

Alexi Howard – Meet the senior striker as she talks about the Reynolds game, being a team captain, and being back out on the field playing after COVID.

The Eagles took their first league win, beating Reynolds 8-0 at home on Tuesday night. It’s been a pretty successful season so far with the overall record being 4 wins, 2 losses, and 2 ties. The senior leader Alexi Howard ended the game with 3 goals.

“We were able to maintain possession of the ball throughout the majority of the game, when we were able to keep and take control over the game, that’s when we were most successful. That’s one of the first games where we were able to play as a whole and connect throughout the entire field,” said Howard.

This is Howard’s fourth year on varsity and second year being a team captain. “It’s an honor to be one of the two captains and to empower my teammates, hype them up, and prepare them for games and just be an overall good influence for the team.

It’s no secret that these past two years have impacted everyone tremendously with the effects of COVID-19. “I’m so glad we don’t have to wear masks anymore because it was really hard having to run as much as we do with masks on and not be able to take them off at all. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done for soccer, however I’m very grateful that my sports team got to have a season and we’ve had a season every year even if the season was pushed back,” Howard stated.

Yesterday they won their last league game 4-0, and they are not planning on slowing down anytime soon. “I think people will be surprised to see what our team will bring to the table for the remainder of the season,” Howard said.
