March of Dimes, Pick a Pumpkin.

March of Dimes is a United States nonprofit organization founded in 1938 by Franklin D. Roosevelt that is the national foundation for Infantile Paralysis, to combat polio. March of Dimes is centered around helping to improve and find research to help the health of mothers and babies. The research and money that is raised goes toward preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. March of Dimes has raised over 2.3 billion dollars for babies, along with 196 million in revenue in 2014.

Centennial High School participates in March of Dimes with a program that has been going on for 10 years. That program is called pick a pumpkin and it starts in the fall and allows students to buy a pumpkin to support the cause. Every pumpkin is $1, and the proceeds go to the foundation to help out. The program is coming to an end however, October 31 it will officially be wrapped up at Centennial.

Even though the pick a pumpkin program is ending at Centennial, there are also national programs that anyone can enroll in and get involved in to help the cause. For more information on March of dimes you can visit their site at www.marchofdimes.org to find out how you can help.
