The Centennial baseball team took down McNary in their playoff play-in game last Tuesday winning a shootout 15-11. Then the Eagles then turned their attention toward the #2 ranked South Medford Panthers on Monday.

The Panthers were by far the toughest team the Eagles have played all season. South Medford hasn’t lost to a 6A team all season so you would expect them to play well and that’s exactly what they did, taking down the Eagles 7-4 in a close game that the Panthers controlled throughout

Yoon Saechao started on the mound for the Eagles Monday and spotted the Panthers a first inning lead that the was never overcome.   Yoon was honorable mention all league this season and finished 4-3 with a 2.89 era.

Coach Eric Fogle spoke before the loss.  “To win we needed to be perfect. They are an outstanding team. To beat outstanding, you can make no mistakes. That means pitching well, playing defense, and creating enough offense to stay in it.”

The Eagles played on of their best games of the season on Monday.  The Panthers are one of the most talented teams in the state and the Eagles only lost to them by three runs.

The Eagles will lose nine players to graduation but first-year coach Fogle has done a great job with the team this season and hopes to continue the momentum of this season onto the next.
