The Centennial boys tennis team has just wrapped up its season. Even though it may have seemed like a rebuilding year with Kenny Chu being the only senior on the team, the boys still managed to have a 6-8 league record finishing fifth in league.

In districts five teams were able to make it past the first round, with Kenny Chu going all the way to the quarterfinals and eventually losing to the second seed from Oregon City, Michael Perez.

Head coach Jimmy Mei wrapped up the season by saying, “We definitely played well this year but are still trying to develop. Austin Trite played great for us this year, that doubles pair really performed and we are looking for growth from both of them. A young star that is developing for us is Travis Huynh, he played against the first seed in districts and really showed some great potential. A lot of the team members were inspired by him to do even better this upcoming year. Mr. Petersen and I plan on having a summer training camp this year to try and improve the team and come back even stronger next year.”

The Centennial girls tennis team had a strong district showing. They finished the season with a 6-8 record landing at 4th in league play. In districts however Sarah Lee and Olivia Harms finished fourth, which means they have qualified to play at the state tournament next week. Kailea Messenger and Avelina Borovskiy lost in the third round but still have a chance to play for state because they are alternates if a team was to get hurt.
