Girls Climb To 2-2 In Early League Play

On Tuesday night, the Eagles beat the David Douglas Scots 46-36, placing the team in the middle of the MHC pack with a 2-2 league record.  Overall the girls are 6-8 heading into tonight’s game at Gresham.

Junior Dominique Andrews led the team with 15 total points and 10 rebounds.  Andrews was a perfect 10-10 on the free throw line in the game.

Sophomore Ellie Basinski had 9 total points and 5 steals against the Scots.

Last Friday the Eagles faced the Barlow Bruins and earned their first conference victory 34-27.  The game came the same day that the team received news of former teammate and 2017 graduate Gianna Loville’s death.  Circumstances around her death remain unknown; her memorial service is next Saturday at 3 pm at Bateman Carole in Gresham.

Andrews led the team with 14 total points against Barlow. Andrews also had 5 steals. Alongside Andrews, junior Lily Ramsey had 6 points and 10 rebounds.

Andrews and Basinski have led the Eagles this season. Andrews has 210 total points, 32 steals, 87 rebounds and is shooting 68% from the field (69-101).

Basinski has 88 total points and 81 rebounds and is  22-35 (63%) on the free throw line.

Earlier in league play the girls lost big to state powers Oregon City and Clackamas after putting together a 4-game winning streak in early pre-season play.
