The 53rd Centennial Invitational Track Meet is tomorrow.  This meet is touted as the biggest high school track meet west of the Mississippi and will feature some of the biggest names in track for the year.

The Centennial girls track team is tied 1st in the conference with Barlow. They are the only spring sport undefeated.

The boys team is in 3rd following Central Catholic and Oregon City who are tied for first. They are the only schools that have had six league competitions while the other schools in the league have only had five.

Tomorrow will be the 53rd Annual Centennial Invitational, 45 schools will be attending, but 65-70 schools will be represented by individual athletes. All schools from the area will attending, as well as schools from California and Washington.

“This event is a lot  tougher than state, so I do not expect to win,’’ said head girls coach Luke Franzke.

About 1,000 students will be attending in both track and field events. Franzke will be taking this meet as preparation for districts and state.

“This is our 53rd invitational.  It’s a big deal not only for the track and field program, but also for the district,’’ he said.
