Boys Tennis Strives to Improve

The boys tennis team has been struggling lately as the David Douglas loss last week was a hard one to swallow.

Even with the record of 1-8, coach Alex Grandjean said he likes that there is, “Everyday  improvement with guys staying after practice to work hard.”

Senior Thang Lang Kim is playing singles and admits he is not doing as expected. He explained, “ I want to win more matches because I’m a senior and I have to set an example.” This is Thang’s first time playing tennis.

On the bright side junior Devin Camat  is acknowledged as “a great player” by Grandjean. He holds a record of 4-0 with his doubles partner Luke Pierik. Devon states, “ I want to go past district this year and also reload the program since there are players who left.”

Another doubles combo is Nathan Skarphol and Sam Dorning with the record of 2-5. The top singles players are Jordan Peacock (0-7) and Randy Le (1-6).

Along with Lang Kim, Freshman Timothy Fu is also struggling. Fu plays singles, and doubles alongside with Frankie Moua/Jason Mui. He stated, “As a freshman I don’t have too much experience but I want to get better.”  Fu also mentioned he plans on continuing playing next year.
