Local Spring Break Locations are Must-Do’s

Spring Break is here, the longest break of second semester, and the last thing anyone wants to do is spend it at home for it’s entirety. For that reason I have created a few lists of locations for those who seek adventure, whether that be locally or not.

Local List [Portland/Gresham/Happy Valley]

  1. Happy Valley Food Carts – You’ve heard of the famous Portland food carts, well now Happy Valley has rolled in on the run. On 145th Ave off of Sunnyside Rd, these carts carry a wide variation of food and also have an inside location fit for any weather Oregon throws at us.
  2. Rimsky-Korsakoffee House – The perfect place for you coffee lovers. Located on 12th Ave in Portland this cafe is straight from someone’s living room.. Seriously! Aside from coffee, they serve tasty desserts and sandwiches. Honestly, the scariest bathroom I’ve ever seen in my life.
  3. Music Millennium – Yes, the ultimate indie location straight down E Burnside. This vinyl store carries all genres of music, movies, shows. In the heart of downtown this place without a doubt epitomizes the every-day life of a Portland music-lover.
  4. Powell’s Bookstore – You may want a break from reading, but if you’re like me you’ll never get enough of books, so why not visit the biggest bookstore in the PNW? Located in W Burnside this store is full of books, movies, magazines, games and PEOPLE. It’s a great place to both go people watching or even hide from people and delve into that book you’ve always wanted to read.
  5. The Vista House – Straight off of I-84  E The Vista House is the location that looks over the Columbia River and leads to all of the Gorge’s hike locations. However, the weather may be unpredictable, so a hike may not always be the best [or safest] decision, but this house allows an inside view of the mountains without the hiking!
  6. Tilikum Crossing – One of the newer bridges of Portland, this location is the perfect of the Columbia River and downtown Portland’s city lights. Take the Max [that goes through the bridge] or simply drive, but this bridge is worth the visit and the perfect opportunity to get a taste of the downtown lifestyle.
